Hyssop Patch

An original wet Cyanotype print of a hyssop seeds collected from my garden. The print is created on an archival Fabriano watercolour paper and is 8" x 8" (20.3 cm x 20.3 cm) in size.

Due to the nature of cyanotypes, this is the only one of its kind in the world.
Cyanotype process, otherwise known as blueprints, was developed 1842 by Sir John Frederick William Herschel.

The process starts with coating the paper with photosensitive chemicals (non-toxic). I then arrange the materials and expose the paper either in direct sunlight or using UV lights. Once exposed, the paper is washed in water to develop and set the image. Different techniques can produce different results and no two prints are the same, even if using the same materials.

The print is shipped without a mat or frame, care instructions included.
