Beech Leaves

Original Cyanotype Print of a Beech Branch, Botanical Art, Art in Blue, OOAK 8" x 8" Handmade Monochromatic Art, Affordable Original Art.

Unique, one of a kind, handmade cyanotype print of treasures found on walks with my dog. Affordable original art. A beech tree branch broken in a storm is the focal point of this unique print. The paper is lightly tinted with watercolour giving the leaves a bit of a bluish green tinge. The print is created on an archival Fabriano watercolour paper and is 8" x 8" (20.3 cm x 20.3 cm) in size. Because the print is square,  you can frame and hang it in any direction.

Due to the nature of cyanotypes, this is the only one of its kind in the world.
Cyanotype process, otherwise known as blueprints, was developed 1842 by Sir John Frederick William Herschel.

The process starts with coating the paper with photosensitive chemicals (non-toxic). I then arrange the materials and expose the paper either in direct sunlight or using UV lights. Once exposed, the paper is washed in water to develop and set the image. Different techniques can produce different results and no two prints are the same, even if using the same materials.
