Welcome to my commissions page! I am currently available for animal and pet commissions. Media

available are graphite pencil, coloured pencil and watercolour.  Below is the commission process.

1.  After the initial contact the next step is to send me the photos of your pet.  This is a crucial step - large, detailed, clear and focused photographs are key to a beautiful portrait that looks like your anim

al companion. I cannot stress this enough.  If I cannot see the details of a dog's or cat's face, I cannot draw/paint it. For this reason I reserve the right to decline a commission if I feel the photos are not good enough for me to create a portrait you will be happy with. If you are within 50 km of my home, I would be happy to come out and take photos of your pet myself at no extra cost. I love doing this as I find meeting them in person gives me a much better idea of their personality and I can take lots of photos to help me with the portrait later.

2.  Once I have all the photos (the more the better - I will most likely use only one or two for the pose itself, but will need others to see details in the face and body) and we agree on the size and pose, I will produce a quick preliminary sketch (either in pencil or in digital media) to ensure you are happy with the pose and position of the animal on the page.

3. When you approve the preliminary sketch, a signed written contract and down payment are required. The contract is there to protect you as much as it is to protect me. I believe both parties should be clear on all the terms and conditions to eliminate any confusion.  I require 30% deposit upon signing before work is started.

4.  At this point I start working on your commission. During the process, unless you request otherwise, I will provide you with updates on the process and, if you are happy with that, updates on social media.

5.  Approval of the final portrait. Once the portrait is complete, I will send you detailed photographs of the finished work. At this point, if you are happy with the portrait, the balance of the price is paid.  If you think some minor changes are needed, they can also be performed at this time.

6.  As soon as I receive the final payment, the portrait will be carefully wrapped (I ship my work in flat envelopes reinforced with sturdy foam board and bubble wrap) and shipped with insurance.  Instructions on handling, framing and care will be included with your package.
